Full time and full time.

Happy birthday to me, by the way.  I am well on my way to 60 and looking for any senior discounts that are available.

Since I and my students are working from home, I decided I had extra time to take continuing education courses for myself.  I am enrolled in 11 units, 12 would be considered full time.  So, I am a full time teacher, and almost a full time student.  My goal is to finish my courses as a student by the end of April.  I'll let you know if I succeed.

And this if for those of you that get bored and keep going to the refrigerator.

I will survive!

Imagine this...

If my my previous post was to be an image, it would look something like this...

Long Hiatus into COVID-19

I began this blog in the summer of 2010, soon after returning to the classroom.  I had spent nearly fifteen years out of the classroom providing support to students, teachers, staff and district administration in the area of technology in our district.  I had not realized this was still sitting here and had been idle all this time.

I am looking for ways to provide support to students during the "Safer-at-home" COVID-19.  Most of my students are high school seniors.  They don't attend when I offer office hours over Zoom or Google Hangouts.  They do ask questions by email, lots of them.  I am available to call student back, I used Google Hangout to do that with one student and his parent this afternoon.  I will not use my personal phone to text or call students or families since our district has set strict guidelines that prohibit it and doing so will incur severe consequences.

I have created videos, recordings of myself speaking to the students, posted them on YouTube and linked them in Google Classroom.  I will let you know how successful the students find these. Here are some suggestions I have found that do work.

What suggestions do you have and what strategies have worked for you?
